Building Defect Investigation
It is well documented that many building defects are not obvious to the untrained eye. The term building defect is often linked to new construction examples of which include building elements not constructed within acceptable tolerances, the use of inferior building products, failure of building elements and below standard finishes to name just a few. In older building stock defects can arise from lack of maintenance, poor initial installation, movement of the building over time from thermal and seismic action, undermining of the foundations caused by leaking drainage and burst water pipes, moisture variations in the foundations associated with seasonal changes, storm damage etc just to name a few possible causes. It requires someone with a broad range on knowledge and experience to drill down to the cause of the problem and provide solutions. At W.S. Benchmark Building we have a wealth of knowledge with over 70 years of building experience between the two founding directors alone. We also use specialized equipment such as thermal imaging cameras, boroscopes and moisture meters just to name a few. We can provide detailed reports on the cause of the problem and recommend solutions to the problem.
